Reggae Nights ~ April 2015

Reggae Nights # 127 was held at BDP, Hulsberg in Bremen again. I arrived a little late but still caught the lovely Lovers Rock set Roots Ashanti played including my favourite Lukie D and his cover of the Ed Sheeran song "Thinking Out Loud". Also, for the first time I saw Roarin' Sound from Bremen! Niceness all the way!

Peetah Morgan in Bremen

Peetah Morgan

Peetah Morgan of the Royal Family of Reggae Morgan Heritage came to grace the stage at Eventloft, Schuppen 2 in Bremen. I captured the event and the party surrounding it. Unfortunately, most people didn't wish to be photographed by me. However, I still have a few nice captures as you can see in my slide-show below the photos.

Peetah Morgan

This excellent singer is so dearly loved by everyone and especially by the African community abroad as well as on the whole continent of Africa - as is the whole Morgan family. Needless to say, the largely African massive was singing along to all the songs and holding a vibe glued to every movement of Peetah's lips. This culminated in Peetah taking off and meeting with all his fans in front of the stage taking pictures with everyone patiently! It was a joyful time for all those who came and were able to seize this moment.

Later I even managed to capture an image with Peetah holding the www.helpjamaica.org-flyer. I was very happy it worked out. I'd like to say big thanks to Kalin, King Ralph and DJ Laye and big ups to Roots Ashanti and Bikini Bottom Sounds for creating the right athmosphere around Peetah's show.

Reggae Nights January 10, 2015

Reggae Nights # 126 was held at BDP, Hulsberg in Bremen on this very cold evening. I didn't bring my gel heating pads so my lens was freezing cold. Of course it fogged up like crazy in the HOT and humid dance! I had to wait for a long time for it to warm up slowly. So, sadly, I missed Frankly Fire, the guest sound for this event held by the local Roots Ashanti Sound.

The vibe was so nice, especially for me since I had not seen most people since the summer. Big up everyone and see you on April 11 at the same place!

Gentleman, Tamika, Treesha, Pow Pow and Msoke in Bremen

Gentleman and Pow Pow were in Bremen on April 26 and I had the pleasure of documenting the event which was held at Speicher 2 - Eventloft, a fairly new venue by the river Weser decorated with palm trees and illuminated by video-animations generated by two Bremen entrepreneurs Jorge Armando & Michael Suding (Miquele). The show was opened by the locals King Ralph, who was one of the organisers, with the help of Deejay Laye and then Roots Ashanti.

Pow Pow's Ingo and Junior Carl really brought the massive to the boil in preparation for the very talented Kenian singer Treesha and of course the wonderful Tamika who received a lot of love from the massive - and rightly so. Tamika had brought the young Tanzanian artist Msoke Minha with her whom she had had a show with in Hamburg prior to the evening in Bremen. He was full of energy and very good at rhyming freestyle.

When Gentleman finally came on he was in top form and frequently jumped off the stage to interact with the audience. He was joking around and hugging Tamika - what a lovely moment! - and even shared out a crate of Beck's beers which are made in Bremen to cool down the massive who were jumping and reaching out to Gentleman at any opportunity they had!

Alltogether, it was a real nice and chilled vibe down to the moments the artists took to pose for Help Jamaica and also a charity festival called "Feeling Fine" in aid of a charity for children in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia which Gentleman, Tamika alongside Silly Walks happened to have visited earlier this year. Last but not least big thanks to Kalin of Back To The Roots for everything!

Unrated

On March 14, 2014 I was invited to UNRATED by Exquisite Visite. I had not been to the venue for a while and I must say, I really liked the lights and vibes in the place called Level II. My friend, Queen Easy from Hamburg could not be there as announced in the flyer but it was a nice night same way. Hopefully, Queen Easy will be there another time.

Reggae Nights #124

This Reggae Night was going down at Magazingkeller with Roots Ashanti as host to the "Sound Conference 2014" on March 1, 2014. As in the previous year the Conference Members were SWS (Sound with Soul) from Berlin and Hakuna Matataa from Saxony. We all enjoyed it, same as last year and here are the photos to prove it - also starring the fog from Ben's fog machine! lol :-)

Reggae Nights # 123

Reggae Nights was conveniently held one day after my birthday at Magazinkeller so I was able to celebrate non-stop from Tuesday, October 1 through to the early hours of Thursday morning! Roots Ashanti played the latest in reggae and dancehall (yes, they can!) and mixed in some good old hits. It was great and I could not stop dancing!

The guest Destination Sound from Göttingen played some dub sounds in between and I had a chance to chill with all of you lovely people at Reggae Nights! Thanks to Hjalmar for the bottle of champagne, to Ben for all the fog which made it hard for my camera to focus, to Rigo for taking my picture (and the invite for Friday) and to all of you for dancing with me and making it a wonderful night out!

Reggae Nights # 119 - Sound Conference

Reggae Nights on April 13, 2013 at Magazinkeller and was entitled Sound Conference because the 2 visiting sounds SWS (Sound with Soul) from Berlin, Hakuna Matataa from Saxony and Roots Ashanti, the hosts in Bremen played in a friendly get-together style, taking turns and even playing together at times and most of all dancing and having a great time behind the decks. Likewise everyone in attendance and here are the pics to prove it:

Reggae Nights # 118

Reggae Nights on February 9, 2013 took place at Pixl again. I was late due to other commitments and quite a few people had already left when I arrived in the early hours. The mood was great as usual and I got to dance quite a bit with my camera. Check the pics:

Then next Reggae Nights event will be held at Magazinkeller on April 13 and is entitled Reggae Nights Sound Conference. See you all there! :-)

Reggae Nights # 117 ✶❉ ☃ ❉✶ Christmas Edition

I couldn't miss the Christmas edition of Reggae Nights on December 25! It was nice to see everyone in good spirits again even though I reached there late. Calabash and Irie FX were on the decks alongside the organisers Roots Ashanti! It was rather foggy in the venue Pixl and somehow I managed to turn off the autofocus on my lens... but got some focussed images after all.

Many thanks to my dancers and special BIG UP to Ken and the South African crew! Hope to see you all again at the next Reggae Nights on February 9 at the same venue! It was a nice vibe!

Saving the photos I have just realised that this is a little anniversary for me! It's the 50 Reggae Nights I have photographed! Doesn't time fly! :-)

Reggae Nights # 115

Reggae Nights in June was nice again with Roots Ashanti, Calabash and Ras Marcus on the decks! I danced to my heart's content until the flash broke off my camera and I had to go home.

Many thanks to everyone for being sweet! See you all next time even though I might have to come without my camera...

Nuff love to you all! ♥

Reggae Nights # 114

Reggae Nights on May 12, 2012 took place at Römer in the centre of Bremen once again. Entry was free and it seems to be a recipe for success. Many people came and the little venue was full to the brim. I could hardly walk around and take pictures. However, as usual, I did get a few:

I certainly hope to see you all again next time when my camera will hopefully be focussing again properly! :-)

Reggae Nights # 112

March 10, 2012 “Römer” saw another successful dance "Free Entry". As usual, Roots Ashanti and Calabash entertained the massive with the latest and greatest hits. Here are the photos!

I had a wonderful time dancing and meeting all the lovely people who come to Reggae Nights regularly and some who have been the first time! Nuff love to you and I do hope to see you all again next month on the 14th of April!

Reggae Nights # 107

Reggae Nights #107 took place at Weserstadion, Ostkurvensaal on a very cold October night, on the 8th to be exact. Perhaps this is why the venue never filled up to its capacity. Those attending were all in great spirits and full of appreciation of the set of one of the biggest sounds in Germany: SUPERSONIC SOUND.

Jr Blender did his thing as usual, a good mix and blend of all genres sprinked with one or ten wicked dubplates and the charismatic MC Spider had us smiling all the way. It was a wonderful night and I had a chance to reminsce with the previous promoters and to dance quite a bit.

The format of my slide show has changed for technical reasons. I do hope you like it anyway. So leave me a comment please! :-)

See you all next time!
