Cali P at Moments

I was overjoyed to meet the wonderful Cali P again at Club Moments on Saturday, October 22. He is on tour right now and his voice was going, or at least it sounded a little less vibrant when we were talking.

Nevertheless, he was in good spirits and agreed to take some pictures with everyone and also - once again - for my cause Help Jamaica. Thank you for this, Cali P! I proceeded to take pictures around the club and had a chat with people awaiting Cali P's show. As I had another event to go to, I did not stick around long after he started his show but I will refer you to a review on IrieItes when it's out.

Jugglerz @ Moments in Bremen

Jugglerz in Action

Last Friday, June 19, I was invited to document the appearance of Jugglerz at Club Moments which was a novelty! Usually, and the duo simpatico are here in Bremen regularly, they are booked at a different venue. Club Moments is a great place for this kind of event because they have a fair sized stage on which the MC can run and jump to his heart’s content. And – trust me – Shotta Paul made ample use of this, so much so that he had to change his t-shirt several times throughout the evening!

This was also the first time I met Meska and Shotta Paul although I regularly read and hear from them as they are very active in the reggae scene, for example with their website jugglerz.de and the German reggae charts they run – and of course I contribute regularly most of the times, generally prompted by the Riddim Newsletter, which always features the charts. They have also made a name for themselves as producers, their latest offering being the Reggaemiles Riddim.

I would have expected more people to turn up for such a great dance but the Jugglerz were not the least bit phased by the rather empty room. They did their thing as if playing for the millions and as the night progressed into the early hours more and more people actually came - something quite typical for Bremen. What can I say, the vibe was great! Thanks Jugglerz! And props to King Ralph who was opening and closing for them.

Silverstar @ Dancehall CoNNect

..::| Stardate: February 1, 2014 |::..
..::| Planet Earth, Germany, Bremen, a reggae enclave called Dancehall CoNNect @ Club Moments |::..

Silverstar Sound had flown in from London for this evening. King Ralph was playing the warm-up when I arrived so I had a few moments with Randy and Gussie to chat and take a few pics. Thanks to both for also posing for Help Jamaica for me!

Randy and Gussie of Silverstar Sound

The Silverstar set was a good mix of dancehall, foundation and current and the latest hits in dancehall and roots. We even got to palance likkle bit to some few soca selections. All of us had a great night and hope to see you again soon, Silverstar!

Pow Pow @ Moments

December tun hot on Friday 13th when Pow Pow, i. e. Mr Brown and Junior Carl played in Bremen at Club Moments. Many very tall people were at the venue when I arrived and King Ralph was playing the opening for the evening. The vibe was very nice and everyone danced to their hearts' content, especially when the veteran sound, who's other members were travelling somewhere in the South of Europe, started heating up the turn tables and the massive, getting everyone to interact in their usual style and fashion as you can see in the photos.

Junior Carl, DJ Laye, Mr Brown

Later DJ Laye played the cool out and people agreed that the event was making them look forward to Christmas Eve when Dancehall CoNNect would once again go down at Club Moments. To see the full album you can click here. Of course, you are welcome to tag yourself.

Sentinel at Moments in Bremen

Sentinel were at Moments in Bremen on May 27, 2012! What a wicked night it was! When I arrived Nadia and Elmar were in full swing already, playing one hit after the other - a lot of which were dubplates of course! Later on their new MC Olde took the stage and created a continued great vibe, considering it was only his second time in this position!

Huge big ups to Naaaaaaaaaaaaadia, whom I had never heard select before. I know her primarily through her activities as a CEO for HelpJamaica. Nadia, you're the best!!

Many thanks to King Ralph for looking after me and your helping hand and Frank, who runs the show, for bringing Sentinel to Bremen and to everyone who was there with me, dancing and having a great time!

See you all soon :-)
